Project Course

The project has started on the May 15th, 2006. It is calculated for three years. The main stepts can be described as follows:

During the first half year an comprehensive inventory of the different European window types will take place. Also front door constructions will be taken into account. After the inventory the constructions data will be parametrisized to certain window components. These components will be the main part of the "CE-Assessment-Model". The Models will base on an extensive testing of window types, which will take place in 2007.

In 2007 the concrete development of the "CE-Assessment model" is planned. A variability analysis on the algorithms will be performed, to determine their accuracy for the intended use in practice. After that a verification phase is planed by testing further prototypes.

The Inventory for the "EU-Window Interface Model" will start at the beginning of 2007. The national building legislation affecting windows determine the performance requirements for the built-in windows and. Also the difference in location, place of the window in the façade and their end-use will be incorporated. In the second project year a common database will be developed for the "EU-Window Interface Model". Like the "CE-Assessment Model" an additional verification is planned by testing special prototypes.

The "CE-Assessment Model" and the "EU Window Interface Model" form the major part of the Software tool. This tool transforms the Models in the daily use of the SMEs. So in the second half of the project the Software tool will be tested and implemented in the daily work of the IAGs and SMEs.

The last project year is dedicated to disseminate the project results by the following measures:

The intellectual property rights belong exclusively to the IAGs. Therefore they want to set up a joint venture for maintaining the assessment tool and taking care of the dissemination after the lifetime of the project. The funding of the member-IAGs will make it possible to update the relevant national building legislation and to continue the development of the "CE-Assessment Model" and the "EU Window Interface Model".
